Lead generation for a cybersecurity company
I run the whole marketing function: search, Meta, events, email and the CRM. Paid search beat The Marketing Team's 2024 MSP benchmark on both lead volume and cost per lead.
Blake Hickey · Marketing director · Jupiter, Florida
I set the plan and the budget and direct the team and the agencies. I still build many of the ads, the follow-up and the video myself, so one person owns the whole thing and can show you where every lead came from. I've done it in-house for tech, cybersecurity, luxury home technology, retail and action sports, and I host a Florida Bar CLE series on lawyer advertising compliance.

Figures are from my own roles and records. Results depend on the market, the budget and the sales team, and past results don't promise future ones.
01 / What I'd own
Most teams have the ads with one vendor, the website with another and the follow-up with nobody. I pull it into one plan and own the number at the end.
Who you sell to, what they search for, what they need to hear first and where the budget goes. Written down, so the whole team works from the same page.
Google Search, Meta and ChatGPT ads, events and email, with tracking to your CRM so you can see what each lead cost and where it came from.
Automated follow-up so leads don't go cold, plus the design and video direction that makes your brand look like you can be trusted.
Regulated industry? Legal, healthcare and financial marketing come with rules. I build them into the campaign from day one, and I'm a member of the National Association of Advertising Compliance.
02 / Selected work
Each one says where I did it and what my role was.
I run the whole marketing function: search, Meta, events, email and the CRM. Paid search beat The Marketing Team's 2024 MSP benchmark on both lead volume and cost per lead.
▶Built and led a three-person team. More than 1,000 leads at an $8.50 average cost per lead, a rebrand upmarket and the 2020 Samsung 5-Star Platinum Direct Dealer Award.
Led a four-person team, automated the sales funnels and rebuilt both websites while selling brands like Nike, Under Armour and Ogio.
I host and produce the Business Law Section's continuing legal education series with Bar ethics counsel and practicing lawyers.
▶More than 100 videos with over 1,000,000 views, a custom Vans shoe collaboration, a site redesign and the weekly email.
My first marketing job, in 2006, at a wakeboard shop and camp. Twenty years later it's a client, and I mentor their in-house team on the website and marketing.
03 / Ways to work together
I work remotely from Jupiter, Florida. Tell me what the team needs, and if I'm not the right fit, I'll say so on the first call.
I own marketing for your company: the plan, the budget, the team and the report on where every lead came from.
The same job a set number of hours a month, for a company that isn't ready for a full-time hire.
Looking for an agency to run your marketing instead? That's my company, Hickey Media.
04 / How I think
I grew up working in my family's business. My grandfather built it, my dad ran it, and by high school I was running the sound and lighting for full rooms during some of the most emotional moments in people's lives. Change the music and you change the room.
That's still how I market. Before anyone reads your price or your process, the first thing they hear decides whether they stay.
My first marketing job, in 2006, was for Bill Boston at The Boarder Line in Southwest Michigan. Twenty years later, Bill still hires me. Clients who stay for decades are the best proof I have. My story
Trailer for the Florida Bar Business Law Section CLE series I host. The full episodes are for Bar members in the Bar's CLE portal.
05 / My method
I named it after my own double jaw surgery, where both jaws had to move together. Think it through, then do it. Every campaign I run follows it, and it's the book I'm writing. About the book
Who are the right buyers, what sends them looking and what do they need to hear first?
Get in front of them, give them a good place to land and follow up fast. Then measure and tune. How it works

Yes. I built and led a three-person marketing team at Premium Digital and led a four-person team at LogoUp.com and R.J. Roberts. I also work closely with sales, IT and outside agencies.
Yes, for research and first drafts, so the team moves faster. I review everything before it goes out, and I keep client and patient data out of tools that train on it. I've also built an AI content system for my own site that drafts SEO articles in a brand's voice and runs each draft past a panel of AI reviewers before a person approves it.
No. No one can. Results depend on the market, the budget, the sales process and things outside anyone's control. What I commit to is the work, the timeline and a clear report on what's working.
Same person, same standards. Blake Hickey is me: roles, projects and speaking. Hickey Media is my company that advises and runs marketing for technology companies, law firms and professional services. Double Jaw Marketing does the same for dental, orthodontic and oral surgery practices. All three are brands of Hickey Media LLC.
